ABOUT MAGDALENA
International experience. Strategic judgement. A human understanding of protocol.
I am a London-based strategic protocol and cross-cultural communication consultant, executive educator and speaker with nearly two decades of international experience.
My work sits at the intersection of protocol, culture, leadership and communication. I have worked with diplomats, government officials, corporate executives, royal household professionals and institutional teams, helping them prepare for important international encounters and operate more effectively across cultures.
My professional experience has developed across diplomatic education, international training, strategic communication and protocol-sensitive programmes. At the European Academy of Diplomacy, I established and developed the training department and contributed to protocol preparation for more than 300 officials ahead of Poland’s 2011 Presidency of the Council of the European Union.
I have since designed and delivered professional programmes for international audiences across the United Kingdom, Europe and the Gulf. My work has addressed diplomatic protocol, cross-cultural communication, executive presence, negotiation, public and digital diplomacy, stakeholder engagement, and the planning of VIP and VVIP programmes.
My approach
I view protocol as more than ceremony, etiquette or technical correctness. In consequential international environments, protocol becomes a form of strategic communication: it can convey authority, recognition, inclusion, respect or distance before a conversation formally begins.
My approach combines rigorous protocol knowledge with cultural interpretation, practical judgement and an understanding of human relationships. I help leaders consider not only what they intend, but how their decisions may be understood by the people and institutions involved.
This perspective informs the Strategic Protocol Compass, a framework I have developed to examine the context, cultural expectations, status and authority, and potential consequences surrounding an international encounter.
Professional background
I hold master’s degrees in International Relations and American Studies and have completed specialist studies in United Nations Protocol and Cultural Diplomacy with UNITAR. My professional development also includes adult learning and facilitation, women’s leadership and participation in the Fulbright programme.
I am a member of Protocol & Diplomacy International – Protocol Officers Association.
Based in London, I work internationally through strategic protocol advisory, executive education and speaking.
